In this week's update:
Worship:
Wednesday Evening, October 15th (7:30 pm): Simchat Torah celebration. Our annual "pull out the stops" Simchat Torah celebration. Dance with the Torah, pray and sing with Reb Raachel and Cantor K, experience heart-filling klezmer music with Freylach Time. Uplift your soul by raising Torah, build friendships and community, turn your “oys” to joys!
Saturday Morning, October 25th (10:30 am): Shabbat morning worship. Join us for worship and see if the Noah narrative floats your boat.
Please remember:
Bring donations for the Food Basket or school supplies for Wilburn Elementary when you attend services. Wilburn students also are in need of underwear, socks, plain T-shirts (solid color, no decoration), pull-up shorts, and elastic-waist slacks.
Fall Scholars-in-Residence
"Forming Light, Creating Darkness: Quantum Physics and Kabbalah"
A Shabbaton with Rabbi Fern Feldman and Karen Barad, Ph.D.
This is a “don’t miss” event - unless cosmic probability gets in your way! Join us on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1 as we have an extraordinary opportunity to learn with a rabbi and a particle physicist. From their different, yet overlapping, perspectives, they shed a new light on creation and Jewish teaching. Drawing on texts from Torah, kabbalah, and quantum physics, learn how our own actions and intentions participate directly in the ongoing life of the universe. Together, with the guidance of a master teacher of quantum physics and a rabbi, we will come to understand how all existence is alive and involved in the process of creation.

We will learn how systematic re-examination of the Covenant promotes Jewish vitality, and how Torah's role in bringing peace into the world can help guide us in determining Halacha's direction in coming decades. The last session will explore elements of the Renewal approach to this process, called "Integral Halacha." Meets at Reb Raachel's home in Northwest Raleigh - RSVP to Reb Raachel.
