Join us for the final session of the second half of Yavneh's 2017-2018 Deep Ecumenism Series, featuring Rev. Joseph Ward, who will discuss how Christians read Jewish Scripture. Over the course of four weeks, topics covered will include:
- Christians’ relationship with the Hebrew Bible.
- Where Christians locate Jesus in Hebrew Scriptures.
- How Christians understand Jesus’s relationship to the Holy God of the Israelites.
- Where Christians find redemption in the Hebrew Bible.
You are welcome to come to as few or as many sessions as you'd like.
COST: A suggested donation of $10 per session/$30 for all four is requested (but not required). We will collect at each session. Your financial support ensures that we can continue to offer programming to a wide audience.
OUR PRESENTER: Joe has made Jewish-Christian conversation a central theme ofhis spiritual and academic journey, beginning with his doctoral thesis at Princeton Theological Seminary and continuing through the Shared Spiritual Leadership dialogues which he co-led with Rabbi Jurovics and Rev. Stacy Grove. He has led classes and conversations around that theme at the University of Mt. Olive, NC State, Duke and UNC’s Hillel Center. A recent publication in Encounter 77:2 (2017) highlights this work. Having retired in 2017, his most recent service was at West Raleigh Presbyterian and Warsaw Presbyterian churches.
We will meet at at Beth Meyer Synagogue, 504 Newton Road, Raleigh 27615.
