Spring 2016 Fundraiser
Update 5/24/16 - We are two-thirds of the way to our goal - please help us cross the finish line! |
Dear Friend and Yavneh Supporter,
This July, Yavneh will begin its seventh year as a vibrant Jewish congregation. On behalf of the entire Yavneh Board of Directors, I invite you to consider making a financial contribution to ensure that we can continue to thrive for many years.
Whether you actively participate in Yavneh’s many worship, learning and social programs, or partake of them on only an occasional basis; whether you’ve had occasion to call on Yavneh’s resources (including our wonderful Rabbi and Cantor!), or just like knowing that they will be available when the need arises; or even if you simply appreciate the role that Yavneh plays in the broader life of the Raleigh community, I hope you will agree that Yavneh merits your support.
Allow me to outline just some of the ways that Yavneh has touched the lives of the community over the past six years:
Yavneh operates on an extremely modest annual budget of $80,000, covering the salaries of our Rabbi, Cantor, and administrator, as well as programming costs, insurance, facilities rentals, and other expenses. Membership fees and donations tied to specific programs and events support a considerable proportion of our financial needs. However, because of our commitment to making membership and activities affordable to all, these income sources fall short of the total needed. Thus, we rely on additional support from the community to meet our yearly budget: simply put, we need to raise $20,000 to meet our budget for the current fiscal year, which ends in June.
If Yavneh plays an important role in your own life, if you value having our Rabbi available to you when the need arises, if the support of a caring community is important to you, or if you feel that Yavneh is a vital part of the broader spiritual community, please consider making a donation at this time.
Please make your donation online here. You will have my heartfelt appreciation, that of the Yavneh Board, and the entire Yavneh community for your much needed support.
Thank you,

Allow me to outline just some of the ways that Yavneh has touched the lives of the community over the past six years:
- Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat services, Saturday morning worship and Torah services, as well as festival and high holy day observances, open to the entire community.
- The creation of a welcoming and diverse community of individuals interested in spiritual exploration without regard to participants’ religious background or inclination.
- Regular social gatherings to celebrate Shabbat and holidays.
- A Rabbi, Cantor, and caring community, available in times of celebration and times of loss.
- Our Un-Seder, offering an opportunity to share a second-night Seder and discuss the Passover from a distinctive Jewish Renewal perspective.
- The Shared Spiritual Leadership program which has brought Jewish and Christian people together for deeply-felt interfaith sharing.
- Educational programs, such as the Wednesday Wisdom series, addressing the interests of a broad religious cross-section.
- Engagement in the work of deep ecumenism and open-hearted multi-faith learning that strengthens the Triangle’s spiritual eco-system.
- Sunday morning elementary-age Jewish and Hebrew learning in partnership with Chabad of Raleigh, introducing our children to devotional worship, personal spiritual development, and crucial aspects of our shared religious heritage.
- An ongoing, evolving series of small group meetings encompassing such areas as men’s spirituality, mitzvah observance, book discussion, and expressive arts like Soul Collage®.
- A unique approach to Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation that allows participants (whether children or adult students) to shape a process that complements specific interests, spirituality, and individual capabilities.
- Visibility in the LGBTQ community through participation at Out!Raleigh, as well as programming and outreach efforts.
