From the Rabbi
Rabbis tend to be most associated with their role as worship leaders. Yet, while the honor of guiding a community in prayer may be the most visible aspect of the rabbi's service, by far the greater part of that service takes place off the bimah.
For me, the primary orientation of my "rebbenate" is as a spiritual guide: an encourager of my congregants' individual spiritual aspirations, their partner
in facing life's challenges and in celebrating its hard-won insights. Thus, learning, teaching, story-telling, writing, and pastoral support comprise the majority of my day-to-day rabbinic activities.
You may discover for yourself how I approach these holy and deeply gratifying commitments by browsing the teachings, sermons, and articles at the bottom of this page:
- Archived messages about the weekly Torah portion (parasha), sent out as part of Yavneh's Tuesday Update.
- Teachings offered at rabbinic conferences and published articles.
- Congregational sermons for Shabbat and holidays, as well as those presented at churches.
