About Us

Yavneh welcomes all spiritual seekers who wish to cultivate the joy, worship, Torah study, ritual, and devotional practices that deepen the kavanah (spiritual intention) enlivening Judaism.

Aligned with the Jewish Renewal movement, Yavneh draws inspiration from Judaism’s prophetic and mystical traditions as it encourages the evolution of Judaism as a spiritual practice.  Jewish Renewal nurtures the Jewish people’s sacred purpose of partnership with the Divine in the inseparable tasks of healing the world (Tikkun Olam) and healing our hearts (Tikkun Halev).

Yavneh: A Jewish Renewal Community seeks:

  • to promote the foundational, enduring and joyful principles of Judaism.
  • to contribute to the continuity of the Jewish people.
  • to enable our members to deepen their relationship with the Divine through communal worship, study and assembly.
  • to engage in deep ecumenism—holy learning among faith communities.
  • to apply the principles of Jewish Renewal to the values and conduct of the individual, the family, the community, and  the society in which we live.

Symbolism of the Yavneh Logo:

The design of the logo was our first step in giving Yavneh a physical presence in the Triangle.  You may be interested in knowing what it means.

The Tree:  The Tree of Life.

The Wave at the Root of the Tree:  The spirit of Renewal flowing through the Jewish world.

The Nine Small Circles: Nine Sephirot, manifestations of the Divine Presence.

The Yud (top of the tree):  Represents the tenth Sephirah, Keter, the seat of will to make the divine manifest.
